Guthrie’s Joseph Sanchez – Athlete Spotlight Presented By BancFirst Guthrie

Senior at Guthrie High School, Joseph Sanchez, couldn’t be more in love with the soccer program at the high school. “Really it’s small but it’s the right size for the coaches to get one on one with their players and get to know them better,” said Joseph about why he loves the program so much. Joseph plays right and mid for the defensive line.

Starting soccer at seven or eight Joseph has been loving the game ever since he would go and watch his parents play indoor soccer. “My favorite part of soccer is always the games. I always get that nervous feeling in my stomach when the match is about to start and I just love the game so much,” said Joseph. This season, “I’m looking forward to how hard work at practice will pay off on the field and how much fun I’m going to have playing my last year at GHS,” Joseph said.

This senior’s motivation comes from his family and his love of the game. “What motivates me is my love for the sport and how fun it is for me, but my family is what has always motivated me,” said Joseph. His inspiration comes from his brother. “He inspires me to be the best I can be and he tells me to always give it a hundred percent and to never give up on my dream,” said Joseph.

In his free time you will catch the senior playing soccer at a local church or in an indoor arena. And of course he spends as much time as he can with his friends and family.
