Whether it’s the soccer pitch or the dance floor, Ryan Kinzer is equally at home on both. The Edmond Memorial senior is 17, but said she’s been playing soccer and dancing since she was four.

“I still love it because it keeps me in shape, and gets me more involved with new people each year,” Kinzer said. “My goal for this year is to just work hard all season no matter the outcome of each game, and have a good attitude about it. As a team, we’d like to be cohesive and work well together no matter what. I started the dance team when I was a freshman in high school,” she continued. “I have always wanted to be on the pom squad because my mom was on it, and I really loved to dance. I like it because it gives me an opportunity to cheer on my friends, and then they get to cheer me on at half time.”

Kinzer is also in student council, and said what little free time she has is often consumed with that. However, in the event that she’s free, she likes to hang out with family and friends, and especially loves watching movies with her family. She plans to attend OU and major in something relating to business after she graduates.

As for being a Character Counts Athlete, Kinzer said she believes it all comes down to working hard and being a good role model.

“I feel like I show character by being a good leader and including others,” Kinzer said. “I think that I am a positive influence to others around me, and I think that is what character is.”
