Harrah’s Mason Slama: Athlete Spotlight Presented By BancFirst

Mason Slama attends Harrah High School where he’s a member of the varsity boys basketball team. Slama is also a member of National Honor Society, Leo Club and he serves as an officer in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Academics and athletics are a huge part of his daily routine.
“Academics are extremely important to me. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. I haven’t made a final decision yet on which school, but I will be attending college after graduation to study business,” said Slama.

A 13-year veteran of the basketball court, Slama is now a senior in his final year at Harrah High School. Slama loves playing basketball and last year added tennis to his resume.

“I have played every position at some point going back to my sophomore year. I really just like being able to help my team wherever I’m needed depending on who we are playing. I also played football this year for the first time since seventh grade, and I played tennis for the first time last year and made it to state in doubles with my brother,” said Slama. “What I like most about our team this year is how hard everybody has been working, showing up for open gyms, and just putting extra work into our team.”

This season the team is working hard to make post season play.

“We play a much different style than the past couple years, playing more pressure defense and getting up and down the court faster. I think we will improve a lot by the end of the season and will be a tough team to beat,” said Slama.

Off the court his parents have played a big role in his life.

“The biggest influence in my life has been my parents. They have always taught me to put God first, make good choices, and work hard. They have always been willing to make sure I made it to every practice, game, and training no matter where or when it was,” he said.
