Harrah’s Brian Byers – Character Counts Presented by BancFirst Harrah

By Ember McElrath

Senior football player at Harrah High School, Brian Byers, will definitely miss playing the sport he loved for so many years for a team he will always remember. Brian played as a receiver and defensive end for the Harrah Panthers. He started playing football once he entered the second grade and he never looked back. Brian also participates in the high school’s baseball program.

Motivation to work hard at such a physical sport for the eighteen year old football player comes from wanting to beat the odds.

“I like to prove people wrong,” Brian said.

Brian’s favorite part of the sport is “being around the guys,” which is one reason their team is so close.

As for this football season, Brian had the time of his life and made some memories that will last him a lifetime. He feels like they did their best while still having a blast.

“Not the outcome we wanted but still had fun,” Brain said.

This year, being his final year in high school, Brian is looking forward to what most seniors can’t wait for; graduation. If he is not on the football field you might be able to find him at a nearby lake fishing or out in a field hunting.

After high school, Brian plans on serving his country and enlisting into the military. While football taught him all about making touchdowns and winning games it also taught him all about respect which will only help him in his future career field.
