Choctaw’s Emma Jackson – Character Counts Presented by BancFirst Choctaw

Junior softball player for Choctaw High School, Emma Jackson, holds the position of pitcher and first base for the school. She has been playing since she was first introduced to tee-ball. Emma is involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, and previously played basketball for the school.
This past season was a bit of a rough ride.
“We had some girls step away from the game for different reasons which left us with having more pressure to perform every game, but as a team we came together more than ever before,” Emma said.
Even with a rocky start to the season she feels as though she learned more from that one season that she thought she could.
Emma had the goal of making 1st Team All-District for softball and she now has that achievement under her belt.
“I was very excited to see that I made first team All-District, it was a goal of mine from the start of season and it means a lot to accomplish it,” Emma said.
For Emma the hardest part of softball isn’t the physical part but the mental.
“Being a pitcher it takes a lot of mental strength to get through tough situations in a game,” Emma said.
Even with the tough times Emma has nothing but pure love for the game.
“My favorite part of the game is the feeling you get when you make that clutch play or that clutch hit to save the game,” said Emma.
