Yukon’s Duston Lambakis: Mom of the Month – Presented by Dr. Ashley Cochran, INTEGRIS Family Care Surrey Hills

Duston Lambakis said she has trouble just bragging on one of her kids, and took the opportunity of being the Vype Mom of the Month to talk about her children, Carson and Rayley.

“Rayley is in eighth grade,” Lambakis said. “She ran cross country in the fall, but dance is her main sport. My son’s name is Carson, and he’s a senior at Yukon High School. He’s on the basketball team. He’s played since he was five years old. He’s done other sports, but basketball has always been his main love.”

Lambakis said it’s not surprising that her children are athletes, because she has the completive bug inside her also.

“My son is one of the most competitive individuals you’ll ever meet,” she said. “He has a fire inside of him that explodes when he gets on the court. I get extremely passionate when my kids are out doing their thing. Sitting in the stands is heart-wrenching and rewarding all at the same time. The pride I feel as their mother, I can’t give words to. Whether I’m cheering or crying, I don’t want to be anywhere else but in the stands watching my kids perform.”

Lambakis, who has been in education 26 years and who is currently the Treasurer and President of the Yukon Tip-In Club, said she and her husband knew early on they had athletes on their hands.

“I just want to tell them both to remember to stay grounded, stay focused, and have fun,” she said. “Pray every day and thank God for what he has given you. I know Dad and I thank Him every day for you. We’re your biggest fans, and will always be on the front row for you.”
