Yukon’s Shannon Henthorn – Character Counts Presented by Alert Driving School

Shannon Henthorn is a member of the Yukon boys basketball team. As he enters his junior season Henthorn is ready to make a big impact.

“My role for our team is to be the best defender on the floor,” said Henthorn, “also doing the little things and hitting shots when needed.”

Henthorn and his Yukon teammates have high expectation for this season.

“Our goal is to make it to the state tournament and give ourselves a chance at a state championship, for that to happen I believe we just need to come together as a group and believe in each other. Our team is on the smaller side, but everyone can shoot and that allows us to push the ball in transition for easy buckets. Also, we must get stops defensively,” said Henthorn.

Henthorn says that character is something that is important to not just him, but the whole team.

“I think we all have a really close bond and are like a family really,” said Henthorn, “as for my character I like to hold myself accountable to the things that I can control and also stay determined in working on my growth as a player and a student.”

Henthorn also performs in the classroom boasting a weighted GPA of 4.111 and is a member of the National Honor Society. After high school he plans on going to college on hopefully an athletic or academic scholarship.
