Yukon’s Kaylee Coleman – Canadian Valley Technology Center Athlete of the Month

By Ryan Stone

The Canadian Valley Technology Center Student of the Month is Kaylee Coleman, a junior at Yukon High School. Coleman is also a standout on the volleyball team for the Lady Millers, starting at right side hitter and blocker.

“I’m really more of a blocker and I just try to do my best at that and be there as much as I can to support the team,” said Coleman.

During the off-season Coleman worked on her hitting and trying to be in a more consistent stance so she can be a better asset to the team. She has big hopes for her team this season.

“The season is going pretty well so far,” said Coleman, “we’ve won a few games and lost a few games, but I’m hoping that we can get to state and bring it home for the first time in school history.”

Coleman began the Digital Media Technology program this fall and has already learned a lot.

“So far we’ve learned how to make edit and produce video and how to take and edit photography. Right now, we’re learning Photoshop and we learned how to edit a video telling our class about us.”

The program also teaches students to build a business portfolio and to create professional web pages and digital media content. Coleman’s ultimate goal is work in video production for a company that produces videos for YouTube.

In the classroom Coleman is a standout with a 3.6 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. After high school she hopes to attend either Wichita State or Central Oklahoma. Coleman wants to play volleyball and major in Digital Media.
