Midwest City’s Mariah Hawkins – Character Counts Presented by Eskridge Honda

Midwest City High School varsity volleyball player Mariah Hawkins is making a name for herself on the court. The standout volleyball player started her career on the court in the fifth grade and she hasn’t looked back.

Hawkins and the Lady Bombers are poised for a good season in 2019. A big reason is the chemistry they share on the court.

“I love how comfortable we all are around each other and how supportive we are of one another,” said Hawkins.

Outside of volleyball, Hawkins is focused on academics and civics. She is a member of the Rotary Club and National Honor Society.

“My academics are very important to me. It has been a goal of mine to always strive for straight A’s and my favorite subject is English,” said Hawkins.

Even though the season is just getting started, Hawkins is looking forward to her future, moving on the next level and continuing her playing career in college.

“I plan to attend college on a volleyball scholarship and get a degree in biology,” said Hawkins.

A big reason Hawkins is a success on and off the court is her parents. They were invested in her success from the beginning.

“My parents have supported me throughout this journey and continue to push me even when I don’t feel like pushing myself. I truly appreciate them more than they will ever know for everything they have done for me over the years,” said Hawkins. Recently Hawkins was featured in the VYPE poll and received thousands of votes, showing she is well liked and respected.
