A one-point loss in the second round of the playoffs to Vian has the Falcons of Millwood hungry to get the season underway. Head coach Darwin Franklin believes his team is ready to take on the challenges of another season in Class 2A. Several players with next-level talent return to the offense for Millwood, including Myles Wooten (6-0, 190, Sr.). Wooten rushed 33 times last season for 406 yards and seven touchdowns. Harold Bagby (6-1, 180, Sr.) is a dual-threat type player, rushing for 268 yards and two scores with 89 yards receiving and another three TDs. Jaden Mullin (5-11, 205, Sr.) will see time at running back while Desmond Green (5-11, 150, Jr.) is another wideout with some experience. The offensive line looks stout with Perry Lewis (6-0, 255, Sr.), Alton Harkey (6-0, 270, Jr.), and Jeremiah Major (6-0, 270, Jr.). “We want to be more disciplined, execute at every position and be extremely physical on every play at every position,” Franklin said. “With additions to the program, we should be more explosive.”

The Falcon defense will employ several starters from the offense this season as they look to feature the best athletes on the field. Lewis will see time on the defensive line, where he had 42 tackles, four sacks and one fumble recovery last season. Wooten is an athlete you cannot leave off the field. Look for him to move around and make plays. Mullin will start at linebacker with Ronald Sango (5-9, 187, Sr.), Kaleb Wilson (5-9, 202, Sr.), and Aaron Hammon (6-0, 170, Sr.). All four have experience at the position. Hammon could move to the defensive backfield if necessary. Jimmie Harris (6-0, 158, Jr.) will start in the secondary as the Falcons implement a multi-set defense. “We want to be detail-oriented, physical and relentless with a focus on winning every play,” Franklin said.
