The Yellowjackets of Choctaw are primed and ready to have a great season. This team will implement an aggressive style of an attacking offense and defense that puts pressure on opponents. Working out of an empty formation offense, they will keep many options open to utilize their offensive weapons. Thad Williams (6-2, 195, Sr.) returns as starting quarterback for his senior season. Last year Williams threw for 1,459 yards and 11 touchdowns. Looking down the field, he will have two solid options at wide receiver in Gabe Johnson (5-9, 165, Sr.) and Cade Sanford (5-11, 175, Sr.). In 2018 Johnson covered 385 yards with 31 receptions and four touchdowns, while Sanford had 37 receptions over 241 yards and a touchdown. The run game will have a powerful driving force in running back Deysean Moore (5-9, 195, Sr.). Moore is truly a rusher to be reckoned with after racking up 114 rushes, 524 yards, and 11 touchdowns last season. Andrew Beabout (6-3, 270, Sr.) and Jake Lovinggood (6-2, 255, Sr.) will be strong pillars in the offensive line. Steele Wasel (6-2, 175, FR) is a rising star that could see some action on offense after guiding the freshman Yellowjackets to an undefeated season.

The Yellowjackets’ 3-4 defense will see four starters return to the field this fall. With a strong linebacker crew and secondary, watch for this group to be fast-paced and combative. Brysn Hunt (6-0, 205, Sr.) and Jeff Roberson (6-3, 220, Sr.) are two linebackers opponents should be wary of. Last year Hunt served up 87 tackles and will look to go out big his senior year. Returning at defensive back, Angel Ackerman (5-10, 185, Sr.) recorded 57 tackles and three interceptions last year. Joining him in the secondary are Chris Parker (6-0, 175, Jr.) and Gabe Lopez (6-0, 170, Jr.), who accumulated a combined 79 tackles last season. Head coach Jake Corbin welcomes some new additions to his coaching staff with Cy offensive coordinator Stallard, Ron Brown (WRs) and Reece Gilbert (flex backs). Corbin has no doubt that his players are up for the challenge this year. “We can’t wait for the 2019 season,” Corbin said. “We feel that we have all the pieces in place to have a record-breaking season. We have the best fans, community, administration and school! We are ready to continue our momentum and show why Choctaw is the place to be!”
