Midwest City’s Kayla Lane – Character Counts Presented by Alert Driving School

Midwest City High School senior Kayla Lane has played softball for the last 12 years and during that time she has developed into one of the top players in the Oklahoma City area.

Midwest City head coach Amber Gorman said Lane has started all four years of her high school career.

“She (Lane) is in our leadership program here at MWC,” said Gorman. “She has started at first base every year, but will probably be moving to second base for this year.”

Lane approaches the game with a positive attitude and is dedicated to the team.

“Being a leader means not just leading vocally but by example as well,” said Lane. “I don’t miss workouts or softball ever and I hold my teammates accountable.”

Lane has developed solid relationships within the squad that carry over outside of softball.

“I always work to strengthening my relationship with my teammates so we have something even after softball is over,” said Lane. “Teammates to watch for this year are Lauren Bratcher and Raegan Brown.”

In her free time, Lane enjoys watching movies and spending quality time with family. Her future plans include heading off to college and working towards a degree in the medical field.

“My plans after graduating are to go to Rose State College for two years then transferring out to go to medical school,” said Lane.

For her dedication to her team and Midwest City High School, Kayla Lane in the Midwest City Character Counts Athlete of the Month.
