Choctaw’s Caleb Simmons – Character Counts Presented by Eskridge Honda

Caleb Simmons just finished up his junior year at Choctaw High School, where he plays left wing for the Yellowjackets soccer team. He has played the sport all his life, following in his father’s footsteps.

“I’ve been playing soccer all my life and always loved it,” he said. “My dad was the one who got me interested into the sport since he played at Choctaw High School and then in college at Newman University in Kansas.”

Simmons enjoys competing for his high school for many reasons. He is passionate about the game.

“I love playing for Choctaw. The energy is high and the people are amazing,” he said. “I love playing soccer with my friends at night with the lights on.”

Simmons said that he is proud of his team for putting in hard work this season, but knows that they can achieve more next season. He did have a favorite play that stood out to him from this year.

“One stand out moment for me this season was that I had the ball and took a shot from far left and it went in the upper right hand 90 and I felt like a god,” he said.

Simmons looks to his parents as role models as well as his coach.

“My dad is a big role model, always cheering for me from the side lines,” he said. “Coach Jenkins helps motivates me and my teammates to be our best not just in soccer, to be outstanding men for the future to make a difference through it too.”

After high school Simmons plans to attend college pursuing a business degree and hopes to continue his soccer career.
