Edmond North’s Kenzie Tackett – Edmond Area Girls Soccer Player of the Month – Presented by Iron Nation Harley-Davidson

Edmond North senior Kenzie Tackett has played soccer for 14 years.

“I started playing soccer when I was four years old and went competitive when I was around the age of 10 and have loved it ever since,” she said.

A forward for the team, Tackett says the best thing about competing for her high school is her teammates.

“I love playing for North because of my teammates,” she said. “They’re all super hardworking and supportive of each other. I wouldn’t want to play with any other group of girls.”

Tackett’s role with the Lady Huskies varsity soccer team actually began when she was just a freshman. The senior leadership on her team that first year made a lasting impact on her and has influenced her mindset on the field to this day.

“I made the varsity team my freshman year and was amazed at the skills and determination our seniors had,” she said. “They always worked super hard and played like every game would be their last.”

What motivates Tackett to be her best is her love of her sport and her teammates.

“I work hard for my team,” she said. “I want us to be successful and that comes from each and every one of us working our hardest in every practice and every game.”

Although she admits they had a rough start to their season, Tackett has not lessened her determination to put in as much work as she can and finish her senior season strong.

“Our goal is to keep working hard and finish strong,” she said.

Outside of soccer she is involved in National Honor Society. She also attends UCO as a concurrent student and plans to continue her studies there after graduation.
