Bethel’s Rian Gamble – Potawatomi Athlete of the Month

Bethel High School senior softball player Rain Gamble is the starting shortstop for head coach Chad Smith who enters his first season at Bethel. Gamble also plays outfield for Bethel when not playing shortstop.

With a ton of seniors on the team, Gamble and her teammates are looking forward to this season and spending time with her teammates.

“My favorite thing about my team and teammates is that no matter what, they never give up. They fight to the finish no matter the outcome,” said Gamble. “As a senior, I just want to enjoy my last few months with my team and work hard and have fun.”

Gamble is also part of the Potawatomi Tribe and is thankful for the opportunities the tribe has given her during her high school career.

“Being a part of the Potawatomi tribe is like having a whole other family backing you and I’m so blessed,” said Gamble. “The tribe has given me opportunities like playing in the Native All-State game, that I otherwise would not have been able to do. I was offered a spot in a leadership camp for student Potawatomi’s to learn more about our culture and tribe as a whole!”

Being a student-athlete for Bethel is something special to Gamble.

“I love being a student athlete at BHS because I have the most supportive teachers and friends that are there for me cheering me on all the way,” Gamble said.

As a student, Gamble is a member of the Student Council, Prowlsadd and the Art Club. Her future goals include college and playing more softball.

“After high school I plan to attend Rose State to play softball and continue my nursing career,” said Gamble.

Gamble said she has had many people influence her as a student and athlete, but one stands out above them all.

“My granny has been my biggest influence growing up, I’ve never met a woman that fights so hard for what she loves and that is willing to anything to make the people she loves happy,” Gamble said.

Last season Gamble hit .475 with a .950 fielding percentage.

For her commitment to Bethel High School and her teammates, Rian Gamble is the Potawatomi Athlete of the Month.
