Yukon junior Jaylee Watson has played basketball for five years. She was surrounded by friends and family members that played, so she decided to give the sport a try. She ended up finding something she really enjoyed.

“I started playing because everyone in my family played and I wanted to give it a try,” she said. “My favorite thing about competing is playing with my friends and enjoying the game of basketball.”

Outside of athletics, Watson is a member of the National Honor Society and is enrolled in classes at Canadian Valley Technology Center. She chose the Early Child Care program in order to pursue a career as a child psychologist.

“I am enrolled in Early Child Care. I enrolled in it because I want to become a child psychologist,” she said.

Watson enjoys taking classes at CV Tech because of the many opportunities she has to learn about her specific interests and get a jumpstart on education that pertains to her desired career.

“[CV Tech] gives me the opportunity to get better at what I want to do after high school,” she said.

Another important aspect that Watson loves about CV Tech is her teachers. She says that one of her favorite instructors is Ms. White because of her encouragement.

“My favorite teacher would have to be Ms. White because she always encourages me to be the best me,” said Watson.

After high school Watson will continue her education in college and pursue her degree in psychology.
