Jackson Oplotnik – Edmond Memorial

VYPE recently conducted an online poll to let the fans’ voices be heard in who should be in the running for the title of Mr. Wrestling Oklahoma 2019. In the Edmond area, wrestling fans showed up loud and proud, casting almost 200,000 votes in total for their favorite wrestlers. Edmond Memorial junior Jackson Oplotnik came out on top.

Oplotnik began wrestling when he was seven years old. He is a hard worker on and off the mat, and he says that his favorite thing about getting to compete for the EMHS Bulldogs is seeing his hard work pay off.

Of course he also loves the teammates he has at Edmond Memorial. In his words, “They are my brothers!”

One of Oplotnik’s most memorable moments in his sport so far was winning the Perry tournament last year. He is always striving to be better, and this season is no exception. He cites his motivation for being a leader on the team as, “Being the best version of myself that I can be.”

After Oplotnik’s time at Edmond Memorial is finished next year he would like to pursue his wrestling career on the collegiate level.
