Yukon senior Sunny Middleton began playing basketball when she was eight years old, encouraged by her father who was a coach. The 6’0 forward is currently in her last season as a Miller and she will definitely miss the girls on her team.

When asked what her favorite part of competing for her high school is Middleton answered, “my teammates, they are my best friends.”

Middleton said that the team’s goals for the remainder of the season are to “grow as players and people and get some wins.” She shared that the season has been a growing experience for the team and they have all learned a lot already.

Middleton strives to be an athlete with character because she wants to make those around her proud.

“It reflects well on your school and your family,” she said. “Always try and have a positive attitude and lift up your teammates.”

She looks up to her older sister Nicole who plays at SWOSU and has been a great example of hard work in her life.

“She has worked hard for everything she has received,” said Middleton.

Middleton has enjoyed playing volleyball in addition to basketball. She looks forward to the next chapter of her life when she will attend college, though she is not sure where yet.
